Welcome, System Modelers!

This G-Forge site is a collaborative development environment through which the U.S. STEM Education Model is managed. The U.S. STEM Education Model is a simulation model developed by the Raytheon Company and gifted to Business-Higher Education Forum (BHEF) in July 2009. The model was developed in order to examine ways to increase the number of students choosing to major and graduate in STEM disciplines.  In 2008, the Business-Higher Education Forum, Raytheon Company, and The Ohio State University founded the STEM Research and Modeling Network (SRMN).  The SRMN brings together researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and funders who share the goal of using simulation modeling to strengthen student interest, participation and achievement in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). You can learn more about the SRMN and the modeling project at www.STEMnetwork.org

On this website, you may download the model, suggest changes and updates, and participate in discussion forums.  While the model is free, as described on the Model Homepage, you will need to purchase Vensim® PLE Plus to run the model. We look forward to working with you on this exciting new effort!

Visit the Model Homepage               Thanks, get me the model now.

Getting Started

  • The efforts of SRMN are structured using the notion of a 'project' as fundamental workspace on this website. Have a look at the "Recently Registered Projects" on the right side, or the "Projects" tab on the top.
  • To contribute, you have to be a registered user with us; so go ahead register yourself. You will receive a confirmation e-mail with a link in it; follow the link to confirm your user account. You can now join any project by clicking the "Request to Join Project" button on the project front page (see project links on right side), on approval by the project owner.
  • Once you log in, lookout for the "quickjump" spry menu icon besides these main tabs for quick access from home page.
  • The four macro tabs on top of the page are your direct entry points to the GForge enviroment (this website).

My Stuff takes you to all your pending tasks, tracker items, projects you are part/owner of, etc.
Search features a powerful search functionality that can scan the site text, attachments, Forums, Wikis, FAQs, etc.
Projects shows you all (depending on permissions set by owners) registered projects - a quick preview of what's cooking!
Snippets is like a "parking lot" where you can drop off ideas, one-liners, important links, etc for future/public references.

Help & Support

Be sure to browse through and use the User Support forums, documentations and files, should you run into any problem.
If you wish to contact us, drop us a note with your concerns & contact info on the
"Help" forum here. A CCB member will get back with your queries either on the forum itself or otherwise.

How Do I Contribute

Just fill and submit the most appropriate change template here  to file a change request with the Configuration Control Board (CCB). A detailed description of your change/update to the model and its reasoning will help us faster assess and process the request. You will be provided with a reference tracker for following the request with us, this will also serve as communication space between you and the CCB members. These tracker(s) show up on your "My Stuff" page once you log in.
